Its now time for spring landscaping after a pretty long winter!
If you’re as excited as us, then we’re going to give you some ideas to get you thinking about your garden and some of the improvement you can make in 2017. Gardening in early spring is fundamental for any gardener. All the conditions that a perennial plant relish is in place, warm sunshine, moist ground, longer days and an even rainfall. Roots dig into the ground, taking up water and nutrients to fuel growth. Now spring is here, consider planting these flowers that are ripe for growing in spring:
Lilacs
They grow from 5 to 15 feet and come in different shapes and about seven colours. The real draw is their haunting fragrance. Easy to grow, and low maintenance.
- Select a land where it gets 6 hours of sun and enrich soil with compost if the soil condition is poor
- Make sure its drains well as Lilacs don’t like wet feet and will not bloom well.
Pansies
They prefer cool weather which means spring is the best time to plant them. The bonus to keep them around is that spring bloom is much more robust when the plants have been in the ground since fall.
- Good drainage as Pansies are susceptible to saturated soil. They do not tolerate heat and humidity.
- Pinch off the faded blooms and if any fruits. This will spur plants to continue blooming
Daffodils
If anyone has to name a flower that signifies spring that is Daffodil. It comes in different shapes and sizes and come mostly in large clusters.
- As a general rule, depth needs to be thrice the height. if enough depth is not given the flower will bend down very soon.
Tulips
They bring a finishing touch to the spring garden. They are best grown in dry weather. Planting tulip in early spring along the garden border and you can enjoy the bloom through the early summer.
- Tulips dislike excess moisture.
- Soil should be well drained, slightly acidic and dry or sandy.
